4. General Product description:

The MegaHub 600E currently is a long distance tandem switch capable of handling telephony calls in a circuit-switched network. The A5070 MGC is an initial step towards integration of the traditional circuit switched network and the next-generation packet-based network. The PSTN consists of two separate networks, one that carries the call signaling information, and the other which carries the voice channels. The call signaling information normally uses the SS7 signaling and is carried through the SS7 network that consists of Signaling Transfer Points (STPs). The voice channels aggregated in the form of Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) streams are carried in T1 or DS1 interfaces or higher capacity DS3, OC3, or OC12 interfaces in the PSTN. The MegaHub 600E provides the switching functionality in the PSTN to interchange the time slots in the interfaces dynamically, to originate, terminate or tandem the calls.
